Smile Solutions has a variety of amenities to help make your visit a pleasant experience.
Relax in front of the fireplace enjoying a complimentary juice or water, and watch some TV while waiting for your appointment. Do you have kids? There is a playroom where they can watch cartoons and play with toys. We also have an observation camera for the parents who would like to watch their children's dental appointments.
When it comes time for your appointment, we offer quiet, private rooms each equipped with comfortable chairs. Watch cable on an overhead TV, or bring your own movie or watch one of ours, as each room has a DVD player. Tired of listening to all of the "noises" during your dental appointment? Don't forget to bring your headphones, because each dental chair also has headphone hook-ups that connect to the TV so you can listen to your favorite show.
If you are feeling anxious about your dental appointment, Smile Solutions also offers nitrous oxide and IV sedation. Learn more below or give us a call.
Nitrous Oxide
Smile Solutions offers nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, which is a gas you breathe in and out through your nose. It has no color, smell, and does not irritate.
Nitrous oxide has many advantages. It can be used for any procedure to help ease fear, apprehension, or anxiety. It has also been found to help reduce or even eliminate a severe gag reflex. You may start to feel the effects in as little as 20 seconds. Some of the effects include a tingling or warm sensation as well as a feeling of euphoria or floating. Because nitrous oxide is breathed in and out through your lungs, you are able to drive after your appointment and enjoy the rest of your day.
Nitrous oxide is the method of choice if you would like to be very relaxed for your dental appointment. If you have questions regarding nitrous oxide at Smile Solutions, feel free to ask.
Intravenous Sedation
At Smile Solutions we offer intravenous sedation, which is a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered by what's going on. With the special medications that are available today, the vast majority of patients do not remember very much about the procedure. The drugs used for IV sedations can produce either partial or full memory loss (amnesia) for the period of time when the drug first kicks in until it wears off.
There are several advantages with IV sedation. It is not limited to just extractions. IV sedation can be done with any procedure including cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, and implants. Onset of action is very rapid and a deeper level of sedation is reached when compared with oral or inhalation sedation. During intravenous sedation, reflexes remain intact, although slightly diminished. Because you remain conscious and can cooperate with instructions, there is no airway tube involved. The benefits of IV sedation far outweigh the costs. By choosing IV sedation, it allows Dr. Wehrman to do more treatment in one appointment. This means fewer visits for you!
Intravenous sedation is the method of choice if you don't want to be aware of the procedure. It makes the difference between a comfortable and pleasant experience and one that is less than ideal. If there are any questions regarding IV sedation in our office, always feel free to ask.
